RoboClaw is Basicmicro’s family of intelligent motor controllers for brushed DC motors, available in single and dual channel models. Every RoboClaw supports both open loop and closed loop operation and can be controlled over USB, RC pulse input, analog voltage, simple serial, or packet serial. Configuration, tuning, and firmware updates are handled in Basicmicro Motion Studio, a free application for Windows.
What This Manual Covers
This manual covers the hardware, configuration, and communication protocols shared by the RoboClaw product line: power and wiring requirements, control modes, Motion Studio setup and tuning, encoder operation, serial communications, and the complete packet serial command reference. Model specific electrical ratings such as current limits and physical dimensions are listed on each product’s datasheet and store page rather than in this manual.
Revision and Firmware
This edition of the manual corresponds to revision 6.0 of the printed manual and describes firmware version 4.3.0 and later. Where a feature depends on a newer firmware version, the requirement is noted on the page that covers it.

How to Use This Manual
The table of contents on the left lists every chapter and page; the chapter you are reading stays expanded, and the current page is highlighted. Each page covers one topic completely. The Previous and Next links at the bottom of every page walk the manual in printed order, so the manual can also be read front to back.
